MoDOT to close the majority of construction work zones for Labor Day weekend

The Missouri Department of Transportation tries to stop construction during any holiday to make traveling more safe for drivers, according to a MoDOT engineer.

MoDOT officials said the majority of construction work on state routes in Missouri will stop starting noon at Friday.

Crews cannot close some of the projects or work zones because there is no other way to reopen the roads, such as the bridge replacement project in Callaway County.

Other projects, such as the resurfacing on I-70, will be pushed back to a later date.

Drivers can check the MoDOT traveler’s map for any delays due to traffic or road closures.
