One arrested for DWI after crash in Boone County

UPDATE 3 p.m.: The Boone County Sheriff’s Department confirms the man taken into custody on suspicion of DWI was Jonathan Akes, 30, of Columbia.

A sergeant said Akes was also arrested Saturday on suspicion of second-degree domestic assault and bonded out before Sunday’s crash.

UPDATE 12 p.m.: Obermiller Road has been reopened.

UPDATE 10:45 a.m.: Our crews on scene say the driver of the smaller car has been arrested for DWI. In total, six people were involved in the crash; five sustained minor injuries and one suffered from moderate injuries.

ORIGINAL STORY: Part of west Obermiller Road in Boone County has been shut down for a car crash.

Emergency crews were first called to the scene in the 1400 block of West Obermiller Road just before 10 a.m. Saturday.

At least 14 units are currently on scene. Two cars were involved in the crash-a van and what appears to be a two-door hatch back.

Our ABC 17 News crews say it is now a crime scene investigation. It’s unclear how many people were involved in the crash, as well as the extent of their injuries.
