Hot and humid for Sunday with a chance for storms

TODAY: The rain will give way to cloudy skies and by the afternoon, temperatures are going to be climbing into the lower 90s, feeling more like the upper 90s with the heat index. There will be an increasing chance for showers and thunderstorms into the late afternoon and evening hours with a marginal risk for severe weather.

TONIGHT: There is a chance to see potentially severe storms with isolated damaging winds and large hail across Mid-Missouri before 9 pm. Skies will be mostly cloudy and low temperatures in the lower 70s are expected.

EXTENDED: Eclipse Day continues to show the greatest chance for partly cloudy skies, along with a chance for some isolated storms through the morning. Storms look more likely north of I-70. Temperatures will reach close to 84 at the start of the eclipse and fall to around 80 by mid-eclipse, due to the lack of solar insulation. As the eclipse ends, temperatures will rise back into the upper 80s , approaching 90 degrees. Hot and humid conditions will allow heat indices to approach the upper 90s on Monday. Late Monday afternoon into Monday night brings an increased chance for showers and thunderstorms. Most of Mid-Missouri is under a risk to see severe weather with isolated damaging winds and large hail, with an increased risk for areas north of Hwy 24. Another chance for storms moves in Tuesday afternoon ahead of a cold front. By Wednesday we are looking dry again, with mostly sunny skies and cooler temps in the low 80s .
