Two Callaway County men arrested in connection to barn burglary

The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office took two men into custody Thursday morning after responding to burglary in the 4000 block of County Road 282.

The property owner was able to give deputies a license plate and description of the car after walking in on the burglary in progress.

Deputies later spotted the car parked at a home on the same road. Jeremy Smith, 31, of Auxvasse, and Michael Waters, 34, of Mexico were arrested in connection to the incident.

Smith was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary, stealing, trespassing and attempted stealing.

Waters was arrested on suspicion of stealing and trespassing. He was also arrested in connection to an investigation from May involving a forgery from a business in Kingdom City.
