Route 54 bridge improvement project begins today

Construction on the westbound Route 54 bridge over Middle River begins Thursday, about six miles southwest of Fulton. This is a part of the MoDOT project that plans to improve nine Callaway County bridges along U.S. Route 54.

Westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane Thursday and Friday, but both lanes will be open over the weekend. Crews will close one lane again on Monday, and expect to finish work by mid-September.

MoDOT plans to improve 12 bridges between I-70 and New Bloomfield over the next 15 months.
