Heat indices in the triple digits

MODAY: Waking up, temperatures will be mild in the 70s . A building ridge will continue to pump in more heat into Mid-Missouri, with temperatures climbing into the mid-90s as we head into the afternoon hours. Southerly winds will really ramp up through the day out of the southwest up to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 at times. Heat indices will have no trouble climbing into the triple digits through the afternoon hours. TONIGHT: Another warm and humid evening across Mid-Missouri, as temperatures are only expected to bottom out in the mid 70s. Winds will remain out of the south, allowing humidity to persist. By late Monday night, a sagging cold front will spark a few showers and storms north of I-70, which could help in cooling some things off. Any storms that do fire bring a marginal risk of severe weather, with the main threat being damaging winds.
