Southern Boone County fire spurred by fireworks
The Southern Boone County Fire Protection District said fireworks are to blame for a structure fire on Thursday night.
Fire crews responded to the fire around 10:20 p.m. in the 6300 block of East Lloyd Hudson Road.
According to Lt. Colt Doman, the fire was extinguished within five minutes.
However, lawn mowers and other machinery caught fire.
There were no reported injuries.
This fire comes just two days after a separate fireworks-related fire west of Hallsville.
At that fire, Assistant Chief Gale Blomenkamp with the Boone County Fire Department said the best way to dispose of leftover fireworks is to “put them in metal cans, soak them in water, and leave them outside.”
If the fireworks reignite, the fire will be contained in the trash can.
