Cooler temps on Saturday will not last long

TODAY: It will be hot and humid for the afternoon with temperatures expected in the upper 80s and approaching 90 degrees in most areas. With the humidity, heat indices will make temperatures feel more like the low-mid 90s . Winds will be shifting to the west-northwest between 5-10 MPH.

TONIGHT: This evening will remain dry with clear skies. Temperatures will be much cooler by Saturday morning dropping into the low to mid 60s. Winds will be light out of the north.

EXTENDED: Heading into the weekend, a surface area of high pressure will settle in Mid-Missouri, bringing drier and cooler air into the picture. High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 80s Saturday with relatively low humidity. A warm front will move across Mid-Missouri Sunday, giving us another increase in humidity for the work week. There is slight chance for a few showers or thunderstorms Sunday evening, mainly in our northern counties . Next week looks hot with high temperatures near 90 both Monday and Tuesday, reaching the lower 90s Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday heat indices could be upwards to 100 degrees.
