Two suspects arrested after car chase in Jefferson City

UPDATE (7/1): The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office identified the two suspects that were arrested Thursday after a chase with police in Jefferson City.

Callaway law enforcement officials have identified the men as Paul Kremer, 31, of Jefferson City and Joshua Steen, 32, of Jefferson City.

Jefferson City police officers found items inside their car that were reported stolen from a home on County Road 349 near New Bloomfield earlier that day.

Kremer and Steen were both charged Friday with second-degree burglary and stealing.

ORIGINAL (6/30): Jefferson City Police officers tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation at the intersection of Madison
Street and US Hwy 50 on Thursday, but ended up in a chase.

The vehicle, a 1995 Saturn, failed to yield. The car chase went down Jefferson Street for several blocks until it ended at the intersection of Swifts Highway and Jefferson Streets.

Both occupants were taken into custody. The investigation revealed that property inside the vehicle was taken during a home burglary in Callaway County earlier in the day.
