Committees pick recommendations for next Boone County clerk

During a special committee meeting Saturday, the Boone County Republican Central Committee selected Taylor Burks for recommendation to the governor’s office to fill the vacant Boone County clerk position.

Burks, of Columbia, was one of two people who applied to the committee for the recommendation.

Wendy Noren officially resigned from her position as county clerk on June 23 due to her declining health after serving in the position for 35 years.

The Boone County Democratic Central Committee voted to recommend Brianna Lennon for the position on June 22.

Art Auer was appointed by the Boone County Commission to serve as interim clerk.

State law requires Governor Eric Greitens to appoint a replacement for a county clerk position; however he isn’t required to select Burks or Lennon.
