Severe weather by this evening

TODAY: Areas north of I-70 are seeing a continued chance for showers and thunderstorms diminishing by late this morning. Through the afternoon there is a slight t-storm chance mainly north of I-70 but areas south will stay dry until evening. It will be a hot and humid afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 80s to 90 and heat indices reaching the mid 90s. Southerly winds of 8-15 mph will gust to 20 mph at times.

TONIGHT: As we head into the evening storm chances will be on the increase. Northwest mid-Mo is seeing the greatest chance of storms to arrive at or after 8 PM, which will track to the southeast through the overnight hours. For tonight, there is an enhanced risk in the forecast for NW mid-Mo, but all areas are under a severe risk. Greatest threat is damaging wind, with the potential for large hail. There is a very low chance for tornado, but it is not an obsolete risk, at a 2% chance for northwest mid-Mo. Temps will be dropping into the low 70s.
