Hot and humid, increasing storm chances
TONIGHT: Storms will continue to move through areas north of HWY 24 and weaken as they end by morning. It will be muggy with lows near 70 as a southerly breeze continues near 10 mph.
THURSDAY: There is a slight t-storm chance mainly north of I-70 but areas south will stay dry until evening. It will be a hot and humid afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 80s to 90 and heat indices reaching the mid 90s. Southerly winds of 8-15 mph will gust to 20 mph at times.
EXTENDED: A line of storms from northwestern Missouri move in Thursday evening after 8 PM, spreading southeast through the night. There is a severe threat for damaging wind and large hail with these storms. Heading into Friday, any lingering showers end by mid-morning. As the cold front slowly moves south of I-70 in the afternoon, additional storms will develop and gradually move southeast. Isolated severe storms containing damaging wind or large hail will be possible. These move south of I-44 Friday evening with drier weather Friday night and into the weekend. Highs will stay in the low to mid 80s Friday with lower humidity behind the cold front. This weekend looks dry until late-day Sunday with high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s but not as humid. However, as we head into next week the cold front lifts northward as a warm front, and sets the stage for another active start to the work week with an increasing chance of storms Sunday night into Monday and another chance of storms for the 4th of July.
