Woman accused in deadly I-70 crash expected in court

A Leavenworth, Kansas, woman accused in a deadly crash on Interstate 70 near Columbia is expected in court Wednesday afternoon.

Mackenzie N. Quiovers, 23, is scheduled to appear in Boone County court for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m.

She’s charged with felony second-degree murder and three counts of felony first-degree kidnapping.

Columbia police say Quiovers helped Demetres D. Washington, 31, of New Madrid, Missouri, kidnap three children from a Columbia home on March 8.

After the women crashed on I-70, Shianna Mays, 13, died at the hospital three days later.

Quiovers is held in the Boone County jail on a $1,000,000 cash-only bond.
