Second suspect arrested in BP Kwik Store shooting from earlier this month

Boone County sheriff’s detectives arrested a second suspect Wednesday morning in connection with a shooting that wounded two 35-year-old women on June 18 outside the BP Kwik Store on E. St. Charles Road.

Detectives arrested a 15-year-old boy Wednesday morning in Jefferson City. The teen was arrested on suspicion of hindering prosecution and delinquent behavior and referred to the Boone County Juvenile Office.

Det. Tom O’Sullivan said the Jefferson City Police Department has been assisting with the investigation.

“We’re all in the same neighborhood, so to speak, and we’re all dealing with the same criminals,” he said. “So it’s important that we maintain an open line of communication with all the different law enforcement agencies in central Missouri.”

O’Sullivan said the suspected shooter is still at large, but said detectives are following up on leads. O’Sullivan would not release any information on the suspect.

Deputies were called to the store east of Columbia at 9:44 p.m. on June 18 where witnesses reported hearing gunshots. The two women were transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle and have since been released.

Alyssia L. Thorpe, 20, of Jefferson City, was arrested on Tuesday for suspicion of hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence regarding this case. Thorpe was released after posting a $1,500 bond. As of Wednesday afternoon, formal charges hadn’t been filed.
