Gas leak causes Route VV to temporarily close
UPDATE 11:50 A.M.: Ameren is now on scene, and crews have told ABC 17 News that they hit a main line that was marked incorrectly, which then started the leak.
UPDATE 11:39 A.M.: According to the Boone County Fire Protection District, Boone Electric was changing a pole and hit a gas line. The southbound lane of Route VV will be closed for an unknown amount of time, and crews are waiting for Ameren to arrive.
ORIGINAL STORY: The southbound lanes of RT VV near Botner Road are temporarily closed due to a gas leak on Wednesday morning.
Travelers are urged to take an alternate route.
ABC 17 News crew are on scene and working to determine the cause and the severity of the gas leak.
