Department of Corrections director addresses subcommittee recommendations

The Missouri Department of Corrections director spoke about improvements being made within the agency during the Randolph Area Pachyderm Club’s meeting Tuesday night.

Anne Precythe said the department is working to make corrections after the House Subcommittee on Corrections Workforce Environment and Conduct reviewed workplace concerns.

“As a department, I’ve pulled my executive team together and we are reviewing the recommendations, many of which we are in complete agreement with,” said Precythe. “Some are current policy and it’s about making sure that we’re enforcing the policy. Then, there are others that we’re going to have to pull some committees together for and get some staff involved so that we can make sure that we implement to the best degree that we can.

The House subcommittee met from February to April and delivered several recommendations to House Speaker Todd Richardson in May.

“We felt confident with the recommendations when they were set forth,” Precythe said. “The majority would be things that we could implement in the coming months.”
