Police confirm car hit by gunfire in northeast Columbia, shooter at large

UPDATE 2:27pm: Police confirm gunshots were fired in northeast Columbia Tuesday.

They say six shots were fired and a vehicle was hit by gunfire. Police also found a possible bullet hole in a home on Quail, but say it could be from a previous shooting in the area.

Officers shut down Quail Drive while they investigated the shooting. They say the shooter drove off after firing the rounds.

Police say right now they have no suspect information.

ORIGINAL: Columbia police officers were seen collecting evidence in northeast Columbia Tuesday.

The police response followed reports of gunshots heard in the area.

It happened around 1:45 Tuesday afternoon in the 2600 block of Quail Drive.

ABC 17 News has a crew in the area who saw officers marking evidence in the street.

ABC 17 News is working to find out if shot were fired in the area and if anything or anyone was hit.
