Work zones reopen after holiday weekend

MODOT work zones will reopen after closing down for the holiday weekend.

They are expected to reopen around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

MODOT says to pay special attention around areas like Interstate 44, Interstate 55, and Interstate 70 for work zones reopening.

There will also be restrictions on Route 54 and Route 63.

MODOT says driver inattention was the number one cause of work zone crashes last year.

According to MODOT it take a person an average of 5 seconds to read a text. Work zones can come up on you quickly if you are not paying attention.

MODOT asks to always pay attention to the roadways and be mindful of the work zones that are reopening.
