Rain chance by Tuesday afternoon

After a gorgeous Memorial Day, another chance for rain makes its way back into Mid-Missouri. Luckily there are no severe threats with this next chance for rain.

The first half of Tuesday will start out dry and sunny. Conditions will soon change as another shortwave moves into the area. You can think of a shortwave as a miniature front. Or more specifically as an upper level front or a pool of cold air moving into an area.

This aforementioned shortwave will make its way into Mid-Missouri in the early afternoon. As this pulls through, it brings a chance for scattered showers and possible thunderstorms. Due to stronger winds aloft, a few of these storms could be strong. Given the strong support from upper level winds, minor hail is possible with some of these Tuesday afternoon storms.

Rain is expected to continue into late Tuesday night exiting Mid-Missouri by early Wednesday morning.
