Boat catches fire at Lake of the Ozarks

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol online boat report, a boat at the Lake of the Ozarks caught fire Monday morning.

Around 9:30 a.m., the boat was leaving a cove at mile marker 12, heading upstream, when the boat driver smelled smoke. The driver opened the engine compartment and saw flames coming from a rubber exhaust boot.

The people inside the boat were unable to extinguish the fire and were all able to get onto another boat.

Highway Patrol said the boat sank, and will be raised by a tow boat.

No injuries were reported.
