Suspect in custody after attempted stabbing in Callaway County

Mitchell Bryne attempted to stab two people with a knife in Callaway County, inflicting minor injuries on one of two victims, said deputies.

Bryne was charged Sunday with first degree assault, domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon. He is currently in the Callaway County Jail on a bond of $50,000.

Deputies responded to a disturbance on Highway 94 in Portland Saturday night. Deputies said Bryne allegedly tried to stab two people.

Bryne was taken to the hospital for injuries he sustained prior to deputies’ arrival. He was later released to the jail.
