Crash shuts down Oakland Gravel Road for power pole repairs

Oakland Gravel Road near Northridge Drive in north Columbia was shut down around 4 p.m. Sunday after a single-car crash caused damage to a power pole.

Columbia Police said the driver was traveling southbound on Oakland Gravel Road when he reported hearing a pop within his car. Police said this caused the driver to veer off the left side of the road and hit a pole, flipping his car.

The driver wasn’t hurt.

Boone County Joint Communication reports Oakland Gravel Road will be shut down until about 6 p.m. Sunday while Columbia Water and Light works to repair the pole.

Crews said some residents may lose power while they are working.
