UPDATE: Two charged after Vandalia stabbing
UPDATE 11:31 A.M.: Julio D. Carballea, 50, of White Settlement, Texas was charged with second degree assault and armed criminal action. Myzra Abdykerimov, 24, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was treated for injuries at the Hannibal Regional Hospital and released. He was charged with third degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
UPDATE 2:15 p.m: ABC 17 News has confirmed with the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department that deputies were called to Harbison-Walker on Thursday morning in response to a stabbing that is alleged to have occured while two delivery truck drivers fought about parking. The fight was possibly over a spot, or about someone blocking someone else.
The man taken into custody is from Pennsylvania, but originally came from Puerto Rico. The man who was stabbed is from Texas, but may be from Europe. Neither man is a U.S. citizen
The Pennsylvania man had a knife, and the Texas man was using a cargo strap with a hook, according to the Sheriff. The sheriff says the stabbing could be a case of self-defense, and that the man who was stabbed was stabbed in the back.
Sheriff Matt Oller told ABC 17 News it will be up to the prosecutor to see if self-defense was warranted.
ORIGINAL STORY: One person is in the hospital and one is in custody after an alleged stabbing took place involving two drivers at Harbison-Walker in Vandalia.
ABC 17 News reached out to the Vandalia Police Department, who confirmed that Vandalia Fire, Vandalia EMS and Vandalia PD were on scene.
