Thousands lose power in mid-Missouri storms Friday night

Thousands were without power Friday night after storms rolled through mid-Missouri.

At one point, more than 1,000 Cole County Ameren Missouri customers were in the dark and more than 600 Boone Electric Cooperative customers were without power.

In Cole County, trees were uprooted and some power lines were down. ABC 17 News received reports of roofs off houses and several trees down near Brazito, the area between Lohman and Wardsville.

An ABC 17 News viewer sent the below photo of a tree that fell on her home in Jefferson City just before 7 p.m.

Jefferson City Police directed traffic on Dix Road while power was restored to traffic lights.

In Columbia, drivers also ran into traffic light issues at the intersections of Stadium and Broadway and Stadium and Ash after heavy rain and wind moved through.

As of 11:42 p.m., Friday night, nearly 26,000 Ameren customers across the state were still without power.
