Retaining wall by Walmart in Columbia to be fixed by ESS Engineering

A retaining wall on Gray Oak Drive in Columbia went down between Apr. 27 and May 10.

The wall was built 12 years ago. ABC 17 News reached out to the city of Columbia, who confirmed that ESS Engineering is working on a traffic plan and a plan to repair the wall. The city also told ABC 17 News that i t’s a private retaining wall and the sidewalk has been barricaded.

The collapsed area currently has a plastic sheathing covering the area to reduce any problems that could be caused by weather.

The original contractor and ESS have a meeting scheduled for Friday. The Army Corp of Engineers has also been contacted.
