Columbia terror suspect scheduled to appear in Federal Court
A Columbia man accused of trying to help a terror group is scheduled to appear in Federal Court Thursday morning.
Robert Hester Jr., 25, is set to appear in front of a federal judges in Kansas City for pretrial hearing at 10 a.m.
He was arrested at a home in the 1700 block of Hanover Boulevard in Columbia on Feb. 19.
According to court documents, Hester faces a federal count of attempting to provide material support to the so-called Islamic State.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Investigators say Hester helped plan potential attacks to happen on Presidents Day on buses, trains and a train station in Kansas City.
Hester believed his co-conspirators were members of ISIS, when they were actually undercover agents.
