Wednesday Severe Storm Threat

A line of strong storms will form ahead of a cold front and move into northwestern Missouri after 10 PM Tuesday. The line of storms is expected to weaken as it slowly moves east through Wednesday morning to near HWY 63 by 9 AM. Severe storms are unlikely Wednesday morning.

Heading into afternoon we’ll have to watch for storm development. Although there isn’t expected to be many, whatever storms that do form could strengthen quickly as they encounter warm, moist air and plenty of wind shear in the atmosphere. The highest threat for severe storms is north of I-70 where there is a Slight Risk while areas farther south have a lower threat. All modes of severe weather are possible with damaging wind and large hail the primary threats and isolated tornadoes also possible.
