Gov. Greitens speaks on legislative session

Republican Gov. Eric Greitens spoke about the legislative session after it wrapped up on Friday night.

It’s the governor’s first session since he was elected in November.

Gov. Greitens called it the most successful start of a Republican administration in a generation.

The governor noted the passage of “Right to Work” and ride-sharing legislation.

Gov. Greitens also said there is still work to be done on ethics reform.

“We’ve got a lot of work that we still have to do. First of all, we need to have term limits for every statewide office holder. Second, we also need to make sure there is a ban on gifts from lobbyists to the Legislature,” said Gov. Greitens.

When asked if the governor would call for the shutdown of the lobbyist group “A New Missouri,” Gov. Greitens said he has “no day-to-day responsibilities with that group.”

Gov. Greitens would not say anything more on the matter.
