Severe Threat: Slight Risk Wednesday and Thursday

There is a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday. Storms will be possible by afternoon near 1PM-3PM in northwest Mid-Missouri near Brunswick, Moberly, and Sedalia. Storms will be increasing in coverage however overnight through 5AM Thursday morning for those north of I-70. 50 mph winds can cause power outages. Some of the strongest storms could have 60 mph winds. By Thursday morning locations north of I-70 could see 1″ of rain already.

There will be a chunk of dry time during the day Thursday. Storms will redevelop by evening for those along and south of I-70. Timing looks to be from 5PM-11PM. There is Marginal Risk south of I-70 and a Slight Risk for southern Camden, Miller, Pulaski, and Phelps counties where we’ll need to watch for 60 mph winds and hail up to quarter size. Rain amounts in southern Missouri look to range from 2″ to 3″ by Thursday night. Flash Flooding does not look to be a concern at this time, meanwhile if storms continue to be ongoing near the Ozarks Thursday evening, we’ll need to monitor the potential for flooding.
