What’s going around: May 9, 2017

This lovely weather in mid-Missouri brings with it some not-so-lovely side effects.

The doctors at Broadway Urgent Care say that seasonal allergies are hitting hard right now. A large number of patients have been suffering from allergy symptoms. Some allergy cases are turning into upper respiratory issues and sinus infections.

Dr. Tara Flynn from Mizzou Quick Cares and Urgent Care is seeing a lot of the same. She says in addition to allergies, most of her patients are dealing with outdoor-related ailments. This includes poison ivy, rashes and tick bites.

Flynn also notes a number of younger students are dealing with strep throat. She is also still seeing a few cases of the flu in her office, but the number is dropping.
