Steady Rain increasing Wednesday with Flooding Likely

TODAY: Light rain begins across Columbia from 5AM-7AM. High rain rates are likely by 8AM and rain will become steady and widespread as the day goes on. By 8AM areas south of HWY 50 could have already picked up 0.50″ to 0.75″ and Jefferson City and Columbia will have picked up 0.10″ to 0.20″. By Noon Columbia could see 1″ to 1.5″ already on the ground. Temperatures will stay cool in the mid to low 50s as rain continues to moderate temperatures. Winds will steadily pick up during the day from the north/ with winds gusting to 20 mph this morning south, and increasing as the day goes on.

TONIGHT: Rain will be ongoing tonight where highest rain amounts will be south of HWY 50 where 3″ to 3.5″ is possible by 11PM tonight. Winds will also continue to gust to 30 mph overnight. Temperatures will fall to 40 with rain continuing through Thursday morning.

EXTENDED: It looks dry on Thursday morning for those west of US63, meanwhile showers will continue through the early afternoon on Thursday through 2PM east of US 63. With an additional 1″ to 1.5″ possible east of US 63 storm total could reach 4″ in some locations near HWY 54. Thursday will stay cool with high temperatures near 60 and a cool northerly wind at 15 mph gusting to 35 mph at times. Friday is looking dry and sunny with no rain at this time for the upcoming weekend. High temperatures will climb into the mid 60s Friday and lower 70s this weekend.
