One arrested, one in custody after incident at Arby’s involving gun

UPDATE 5/2: ABC 17 News reached out to the Columbia Police Department about the incident. It was confirmed by police that an employee of Arby’s was outside when he noticed a man standing near the dumpsters. The employee said that he went over to the man to get him to leave, then the man pointed a gun at him. Officer located the juvenile behind a nearby building.

The man was identified as a 16 year old juvenile who had the gun, a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

While investigating the incident, officers contacted Harley Hunter, who knew the juvenile. The juvenile had a Vyvanse pill in a baggie, Hunter’s driver’s license and a paycheck stub for Hunter.

The juvenile was taken into custody for felony unlawful use of a weapon, felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor fourth degree assault and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hunter was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance.

ORIGINAL STORY: Two juvenile boys have been brought into custody after an incident involving a gun at Arby’s on South Providence in Columbia.

The Columbia Police Department will not release any more information at this time because of the fact that they are juveniles.
