Storm system tracking north, heavy rain threat

We are tracking another storm system which will bring rain to Mid-Missouri this weekend. Unlike last weekend’s storm system, this one is forecast to track north into Missouri, bringing a better chance of rain Saturday into Sunday.

At this time, storms are expected to develop in southern Missouri Friday evening and lift north to near I-44 by midnight. We will watch areas along and just north of I-44 Friday night for possible strong to severe storms. These will also produce heavy rainfall.

Heading into Saturday, rain will gradually spread northward as the low pressure area tracks north through the day. Periods of rain, sometimes moderate, will continue into Sunday morning before showers and t-storms taper off through the day.

Rainfall amounts from Friday night through Sunday will range from 1-4″ with highest amounts near I-44 and near an inch near HWY 36. With already saturated ground from recent rain, flooding will be possible especially south of HWY 50 into the Ozarks this weekend.
