Two arrested at Columbia hotel for drugs after call about stolen vehicle

Two Columbia residents were arrested on Friday after officers responded to a call about a stolen vehicle.

Columbia police officers were called to 2518 Business Loop 70 E., Eastwood Motel, because of a stolen vehicle. Officers talked to two occupants of one of the rooms, which were Sunny Monie-Turnbow and Michael Thompson.

While Monie-Turnbow was speaking with police, they found a bent spoon used in the consumption of illegal narcotics laying on the bed where Monie-Turnbow had been sleeping. Officers received permission to search the room from Monie-Turnbow, and found a baggie containing .75 grams of methamphetamine and three glass methamphetamine pipes.

After being read his miranda rights, Thompson said that the meth was his. Thompson was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance. Monie-Turnbow was arrested for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia with a release on municipal summons.
