Rainy Friday south of I-70, with cooler conditions
TODAY: This afternoon Mid-Missouri is seeing a brief lull in the rainfall activity, but don’t put away the rain gear just yet. Several rounds of rainfall is expected as we head through the remainder of today into the overnight hours. With the lull in activity, temperatures are rebounding back into the mid and upper 50s and will stay like that through the day. More rain is expected to track into Mid-Missouri as we head into the overnight areas primarily affecting those along and south of I-70 through the day. Areas north of 70 will stay on the dry side today, outside of a few light showers, with highs climbing into the upper 50s. Winds through the day will be out of the northeast under 15 mph.
TONIGHT: The heaviest rain is set to arrive this evening, as the disturbance itself tracks into Mid-Missouri. Tonight into Saturday is the best chance for areas north of I-70 to see some rainfall, but it will be very little. The heaviest rain will stay confined to Hwy 50 and south, where there is a small chance for some localized flooding. As the disturbance tracks through Mid-Missouri, expect winds to be quite gusty up to 30 mph out of the northeast.
EXTENDED: Rain will begin to taper off from west to east through the day on Saturday. Rainfall amounts will range from a trace to quarter of an inch north of I-70 to a half inch to inch south of I-70 and amounts up to 3 inches closer to I-44 through Saturday. Saturday will stay cool with high temperatures only reaching 50 to 58 degrees, with locations south of Hwy 50 likely staying in the 40s. We’ll be dry and cold Saturday night with lows dropping into the upper 30s by Sunday morning. Sunday looks nice with sunny skies, light northerly winds and high temperatures in the upper 60s. We’ll warm to the low to mid 70s early next week with mainly dry weather through Tuesday. Rain chances increase Wednesday into Thursday as unsettled weather returns.
