Columbia man accused of pointing gun at woman

A Columbia man accused of pointing a gun at a woman is expected to appear in court later this month.

On Tuesday, Lamont Cooper, Jr. was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and tampering with a victim.

The Columbia Police Department said officers responded to a report of a man pointing a handgun at a woman sitting in a car in the area of Weymeyer Drive and Greeley Street on Monday afternoon.

The victim denied he showed a gun, but a witness said that Cooper, Jr. was pointing the gun through the car’s sunroof.

According to police, Cooper, Jr. walked onto the scene and threatened the victim, saying he would kill her if she talked with police.

He was arrested shortly thereafter.

He is scheduled for a case review at 1:30 p.m. April 28.
