Suspect arrested in west Columbia robbery

UPDATE: 29 year old Aaron Greenup was arrested on Monday morning for the robbery.

Police say a male victim contacted a subject for a ride while waiting in the area of the 400 block of Stadium.

When the vehicle arrived there were three people inside, including Aaron Greenup.

As the victim was loading items belonging to him and two others, Greenup began to drive away.

The victim tried to hop into the moving vehicle as it was moving.

Greenup stopped the car near McDonalds on Stadium and got a gun and pointed it at the victim.

Greenup sped away with the victim’s property.

Police officers made contact with Greenup in the 10,000 block of Serenity Circle.

Officers observed a vehicle matching the description, a search found a BB gun in the trunk that matched the description from the victim.

Greenup is arrested on suspicion of Robbery in the first degree.

ORIGINAL: Police were called to the 400 block of Stadium for reports of an armed robbery.

It happened just before 4:00 Monday morning.

Police say when they got on scene, a group of homeless people said they had property stolen from at least one suspect with a weapon.

Police say the suspects left in a car.

Police say they will continue to investigate the situation. They had not arrested anyone and say they will be looking for at least one suspect.
