Woman charged in daughter’s death appears in Boone County Court

A woman charged for the death of her daughter appeared in Boone County Court Friday.

Demetres Washington is charged with murder and kidnapping after a custody battle led to a crash on I-70 that claimed the life of her daughter.

Washington’s case review hearing was moved to later this month because her Chicago-based lawyer hadn’t registered with the court yet.

Both Washington and the other woman involved in the deadly crash, Mackenzie Quiovers, had bonds that allowed them to go to the hospital for treatment on the condition they would return to the Boone County Jail.

Quiovers went to the hospital, but has not been seen since she was released.

She has an active warrant for her arrest that is extraditable. That means if she is found in another jurisdiction, Boone County sheriff’s deputies will pick her up.

The bond for Quiovers is currently set at $1 million.

As of Friday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is still working on the reconstruction of the crash.
