Police investigating early morning robbery at west Columbia convenience store

On Thursday, police responded to Phillips 66 on Ash street for reports of a robbery.

Police say they first got the call around 4:45 a.m.

Officers said a 20-something year old male with a white hoodie walked into the convenience store and demanded money from the clerk.

The suspect apparently insinuated he had a gun, but the clerk did not see one.

Once the suspect had an undisclosed amount of money, police say he left.

Police say the clerk was unable to see which direction the suspect went and if he was on foot or got in a car.

Police say they will review camera footage later in the morning.
