Heavy rain and storms Tuesday night
TONIGHT: It will be a mostly cloudy night with low temperatures in the upper 40s. West winds will diminish to 8 mph by morning with areas of fog possible.
TUESDAY: It looks dry on Tuesday morning with mostly cloudy skies but a few showers are possible from 11 AM to 3 PM along and north of I-70. Most rain holds off until after 6 PM with showers and t-storms moving in from the west. A line of showers and t-storms with heavy rain will move from near HWY 65 near 9 PM, east through the overnight hours. Storms could become strong to severe and currently there is a Marginal Severe Threat south of I-70 with main threats large hail and damaging wind.
EXTENDED: Periods of rain will continue Wednesday morning through the afternoon with snow mixing in at times mainly north of I-70. It will be much cooler Wednesday with falling temperatures from the low 50s in the morning through the 40s during the day. We’ll have gusty northerly winds up to 40 mph with highest gusts north of I-70. Rainfall amounts from Tuesday through Wednesday will range from 1-2 inches with local amounts of 2.5″ possible. Thursday looks breezy, partly cloudy and cool with highs in the 50s. We’ll have a chilly night Thursday with lows dipping into the low to mid 30s. We’ll need to watch for possible frost late Thursday night into Friday morning. Warmer, drier weather moves in Friday through Sunday with high temperatures reaching near 70 Saturday and low to mid 70s Sunday with only a slight shower chance late in the day Sunday.
