Callaway County authorities arrest man on rape and kidnapping charges
A Callaway County man was charged Friday with rape and kidnapping, among other charges.
The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office says it responded to a reported domestic disturbance and sexual assault on the 23rd at a residence near Portland in eastern Callaway County.
Deputies apparently found the victim at the residence, who was then taken to a Columbia hospital. The victim has since been treated and released.
Authorities say they identified 26-year-old Rusty Rudd as the suspect, but say he had fled the area before deputies got on scene.
On March 30, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators say they responded to a residence near Portland and found Rudd. They then arrested him without incident.
Deputies say Rudd remains in the Callaway County Jail without bond, per the judge of record.
He’s charged with three counts of second-degree rape, seven counts of domestic assault, kidnapping and property damage.
ABC 17 News checked CaseNet and found Rudd was also charged in January for non-support. ABC 17 News is picking up court documents to find out more details on what led up to the arrest and charges.
