Hui named Missouri Department of Labor director
On Thursday, Gov. Eric Greitens named Anna Hui as the new director of the Missouri Department of Labor. She will be the first Asian-American to hold a cabinet level position in Missouri’s history.
Hui is currently the director of the Illinois Department of Labor and previously held the title of assistant director. She also was the chief of staff to Elaine Chao, the former U.S. Secretary of Labor and current U.S. Secretary of Transportation, during Chao’s tenure at the Heritage Foundation.
“Anna Hui has proven herself to be a fearless change agent at the state and federal level,” said the governor. “We are honored to have her join us to shake up Jefferson City and bring some much-needed reforms to the Missouri Department of Labor.”
“I share Governor Greitens’ vision of reform to better serve workers, businesses and taxpayers,” said Hui. “I thank him for this significant opportunity to lead the Department of Labor and look forward to working hard to promote the well-being of employees in Missouri.”
According to the governor’s office, Hui has worked to improve Illinois’s public safety and worker protection programs, and has initiated wage programs to encourage job creation and fair pay.
Hui has also served as associate deputy secretary of labor for the U.S. Department of Labor.
