I-70 bridge work will extend until Saturday afternoon
Drivers can continue to expect delays on I-70 near Rocheport until the weekend.
Work to fix the expansion joint in the right lane of the eastbound Interstate 70 bridge over the Missouri River near Rocheport is complete, and crews will switch to the left lane to repair the expansion joint on that side.
Missouri Department of Transportation officials had originally planned to reopen the bridge by Thursday. However, MoDOT said as a safety precaution, they have decided to replace the expansion joint in the left lane of the eastbound bridge as well.
Work is expected to be complete around Saturday afternoon.
The speed limit on the bridge will remain at 45 mph while the work takes place.
MoDOT said it is possible that crews will have to close both lanes of the bridge for a brief period overnight to complete the repairs.
