Capitol Avenue infrastructure project moves forward

The Cole County Commission agreed Tuesday morning to fund up to $600,000 in planned infrastructure improvements on East Capitol Avenue, less than what the city requested.

The contract, awarded to Aplex Inc. of Linn, Missouri, will involve replacing the sidewalks and the addition of bike lanes, passing lanes and two-lane vehicle traffic.

The total cost of the project is just over $1.5 million, most of which will now have to be covered by Jefferson City.

The city council is set to vote on funding the project during its next meeting.
