Tractor-trailer catches fire on Hwy. 54 in Callaway County

No one is hurt after a tractor-trailer caught fire on Highway 54 just north of I-70 in Callaway County.

According to officials on the scene, the driver had been experiencing mechanical issues and pulled onto the shoulder. He left the area to get supplies and when he came back, he said the cab was on fire.

Firefighters got the call sometime before 9 p.m. and were able to put the fire out.

The cab was destroyed. There was minimal damage done to the trailer.

Officials told ABC 17 News the truck was hauling frozen food.

Traffic in the area was briefly reduced to one lane before reopening back to two once firefighters left the area shortly after 10 p.m.
