Winter Weather Increasing for Saturday

Winter weather is increasing from Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon. Snow looks like it will start up between 2AM and 4AM near HWY 24. It looks to start up between 5AM and 7AM in Columbia. Areas south of HWY 50 can expect some sleet/freezing rain/ and rain with the onset of this winter storm. This is a preliminary timeline. The mix will begin between 6AM and 8AM near Osage Beach, Lake of the Ozarks, and the Truman Reservoir area before changing over to snow south of the Missouri River after 9AM. Minor accumulation is expected. Due to the warm ground, much of the snow will melt to a slush during the day. Accumulation will be possible however on elevated surfaces and bridges.

By Saturday night temperatures will plummet to the teens and a hard freeze is likely. Any sensitive vegetation that has started to blossom will be severely damaged making for slick roads possible Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Another opportunity for snow arrives Sunday night and Monday morning. A clipper looks to move in by 3AM-6AM Monday morning. Due to colder temperatures this weekend, this will likely stick causing issues for Monday morning’s commute.
