Springfield woman accused of trying to rob woman near Columbia pharmacy

A Springfield, Missouri woman is in the Boone County Jail after being accused of trying to rob a woman near a Columbia pharmacy.

Columbia police responded to the Walgreen’s Pharmacy in the 200 block of East Broadway for a robbery investigation just after 2:30 p.m Tuesday.

According to police, a 66-year-old woman told them another woman tried to take her purse and struck her several times in the face, body and legs.

Police said the suspect ran away without taking any of the woman’s property.

The victim received a cut to her right hand during the attack.

Samantha Nicole Doty, 24, was taken into custody just before 3 p.m.

Police said Doty was detained after the woman identified her as the suspect who tried to rob her.

At last check, Doty has not been formally charged.
