Columbia City Council halts meeting for storm threat

Columbia’s City Council was in the middle of discussing the unified development code when tornado sirens sounded Monday night.

The meeting was quickly halted and the entire room, including about 100 people, went down to the basement to wait out the storm. The pause in the meeting lasted around 20 minutes.

When the meeting resumed, the city council decided to move discussions of the unified development code to a public hearing set for Saturday at 1 p.m.
