Boone Hospital Center joins network to enhance cancer care, prevention
Boone Hospital Center announced it joined the Siteman Cancer Network Friday.
The hospital said its Stewart Cancer Center is the first member of the network and will coordinate with Siteman to provide cancer prevention access. This includes specialized treatments, control strategies, clinical trials, and genetic and genome testing.
Together, the institutions hope their efforts will increase the number of people screened for cancer, leading to earlier detection and healthier outcomes.
“Boone Hospital Center is committed to providing mid-Missouri and our patients the very best in cancer care as close to home as possible,” said Jim Sinek, president of Boone Hospital Center. “As a Siteman Cancer Network affiliate, we’ll work to lessen the burden of cancer on individuals, families and the entire region.”
Sinek went on to say, “In becoming a member of the Siteman Cancer Network, we are only adding to the care delivery and treatment options for the residents of Mid-Missouri.”
The hospital’s affiliation with Siteman will run through December 2019 and annually renew for one year until a party opts out.
Siteman Cancer Network is an affiliation of Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, regional health systems and hospitals. According to Boone Hospital, the network’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of people through research, treatment and prevention.
