Large fight breaks out in Columbia parking lot

A large fight at a Columbia parking lot left three people injured Monday night.

Columbia Police Department confirms two large groups were fighting in the Hathman Village parking lot near the old Cat’s Kitchen location on Paris Road just before 7 p.m. Monday.

A police sergeant on scene told ABC 17 News that three people were injured and one person was taken to the hospital needing stitches.

Witnesses told police that a gun was fired into the air, and people started running into the building.

No one was shot and no property damage was reported.

As of right now, there is no suspect(s) information that was given on who fired the gun.

(Editor’s note, 9:53 p.m., 2/27: The story has been changed to reflect the building some were seen running towards. An earlier version of the story said people fought in the parking lot near Cat’s Kitchen restaurant. That business no longer operates at that spot.)
